The association's tasks are :

- to observe urban plannings and emphasize the archaelogical dimension
- to evaluate and check urban works
- to prospect by all possible means (fieldwork, archives, ancient maps and photos)

For the association, prevention consists in an archeological watch on all public working sites in the area the GRAAL association is responsible for. This watch is based on observation, including if necessary taking photos, samples and notes. Obviously, a watch is in no way comparable to an archeological operation, which requires a special authorization. Our form of prevention only consists in observation, allowing us to spot archaelogical sites of interest, and to take legal action if necessary.

Moreover, we offer french people living in the area covered by the GRAAL an opportunity to help archaeology by warning us every time an important urban work is started in their area.
