It is articulated around a major axis: human occupation in Flemish maritime plain.

The aims are :

To ensure the realization of programmes of excavations in cooperation with foreign partners (primarily England, Belgium, and Netherlands)
To develop secondary research orientations (Abbeys, salt makers sites...)
To gather a unique documentation on Archaeology and History in the maritime Flanders.
